Eminent Domain
There are 10 run down houses on the waterfront that the government wants to take to turn into a store -front, public farmers-market and a park. The opponents’ might say that we will not give them just compensation. They might say that they have put a lot of work into there homes. They might say that they have sentimental value. They might say that they use the day-care. They might say they do not have enough money to buy another house. The Fith Amendment: No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. Just Compensation Just compensation of run-down water front houses is 1,990,000 the most expensive water front house. WE CAN NOT JUSTIFIE SENTIMENTAL VALUE. Some and actually most are blighted by the common term. It is for the common good for it is a park and to get rid of dangerous home’s for vermin. It is not private to private taking we are building buildings for locally owned businesses to move into and a farmers market were citizens can buy goods that they might need. |
